Non-Fiction: These are self-help books, How to books, meditation, inspirational biographies. For example ~ "Chicken Soup for the Soul ", "Goal Motivation, Conflict", or "The Secret".

Main Stream Fiction: This is original fiction that has little to no romantic elements. Examples are Hemingway, Chick lit, drama and comedy.

Children's Fiction: These are the books you will curl up with your little one to read or to them. The stories range from short (Around 300 words for young children) to longer (25,000 words for the more advanced reader.) They can deal with serious subjects such as the death of a loved one or pet, or the stories can be silly and nonsensical like Dr. Seuss. Children’s fiction covers age ranges from newborn to pre-teen.

Science Fiction/Fantasy: These stories are located in another time, place, or planet. They involve space travel, time travel, or other species mythological or historical. Think Star Trek, Star Wars, fantasy, Anne McCaffrey, or Lord of the Rings.

Horror/Mystery: Have a story that scares the pants off someone? Think Steven King, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, or Agatha Christie.

Action: This can be Westerns, (Louis Lamour) action/adventure (Bond, James Bond) Knights, Spies, and/or Ninjas.

Paranormal: Who ya gonna call? Well don't expect the Ghostbusters or TAPS to come rescue you from these books. These readers love vampires, werewolves, ghosts, and all sorts of things that go bump in the night.

Romance: Boy meets girl, (or boy meets boy, or girl meets girl, or one joins couple or group), and they fall in love. Sometimes they have sex, sometimes they don't, but there must be a chance at the happily-ever-after. The sub-genres are as stated above, but with romantic elements.

Erotic Romance: Same as the romance category, but the sex is more descriptive. Cruder language may be used where necessary.
